Windsor Great Park

Since we moved to West Byfleet, we have visited Windsor Great Park on a few occasions - having not previously been there at all.

I am amazed by the area it covers and the diversity available to view - you can walk for miles and you pay for the car park according to the time you are there.

In the southern end is Virginia Water Lake, with the Cascade waterfall at the eastern tip and a nice 5 arch bridge at the western end.

If you walk North from Virginia Water, roughly parallel to the A30, you reach the end of the Lake and come to a Totem Pole and a large pond.

Continuing the walk takes you through to Valley Gardens, with various areas of interest and a wide variety of trees - which look great at this time of year wearing their Autumn colours for a short while before they fall.

North of Valley Gardens, you reach Savill Garden - the only part of the Park for which you pay separately. This also has many nice areas and points of interest.

Further North is Chapel Wood, where the Maple trees looked amazing last week in their bright colours.

There is also Cow Pond - a large pond heavily populated with Lillies, which would look great when they are in bloom.

The photos I have included show just a few parts of this wonderful Park - I haven't visited the Deer Park or a couple of other spots yet.
