Papercourt Lock to Trigg's Lock

Went for a walk yesterday, alongside the River Wey navigation - a beautifully sunny day but a very windy one and cold in the wind.

Parking near the road bridge on the Ripley Road, we walked south to Papercourt Lock - the scene of my frosty sunrise photos in late January. There would be no 'reflection' photos today, as the strong wind was ruffling the surface all along our route.

The towpath route takes you across the bridge at the Lock and you then continue south, past Tanyard Bridge and the back of Send Industrial Estate and onwards to Cart Bridge. Here we needed to cross the A247 to get to where the towpath continues on the eastern side of the river.

This took us past the riverside seating & dining area of the New Inn at Cartbridge - looked like a nice place to stop and enjoy on a warmer day.

Continuing, we passed Worsfold Gates and headed further south. After a stop for our lunch at one of the few benches we found, we continued until we reached Trigg's Lock.

After a short walk down to the next bridge, we turned around and retraced our path all the way back to the car - a round trip of about 6 miles, made harder by walking 'into the wind' on the return journey. All in all though, a very pleasant walking route.
