In early April we wanted somewhere different to head for and, after looking through some Google pic, we decided on Oxford.
The first part of the planned trip was to visit Iffley Lock, at the southern tip of Oxford and a place that looked like it could be quite nice.
Iffley Lock is on the River Thames and took us a while to find, eventually successful after stopping to ask a local old lady. Parking near the church, meant we had a short walk to the Lock (well signposted) and we were greeted with a wonderful view.
The lock and the lock-keepers cottage are really photogenic, as also is the bridge just past the lock.
A short walk along the footpath past the bridge, was a very busy pub/restaurant, with a good number of people enjoying meals and drinks at the picnic tables sited outside. There were also a lot of cycles leant against the fence of the pub, as many had obviously enjoyed a ride out from the City to this pleasant spot.
We continued our walk along the Thames path and then made our way back to the car, having stopped to consume our packed lunch.
The next step of our day out, was to make the short drive into Oxford City centre - where we found a car park spot relatively easily.
