After a few weekends that included walks but no photos, we headed off to Seaford Head for our Boxing Day walk.
The sun was shining when we left home and still doing so as we parked at the South Barn site, where there were a lot of other cars as many people had the same idea as us for a walk.
The forecast had said windy, and they were not wrong - we found out just how windy when we got out of the car.
We walked down the track that heads down towards the Cuckmere Haven beach, past two houses, though our walk was disrupted after about 15 minutes as the clouds decided to empty their contents. For the few minutes of precipitation, the temperature dropped significantly and we were treated to rain, sleet and hail accompanied by the strong wind. An unpleasant few minutes then, but we soon dried as the wind and sun did their best.
We made it down to the beach and walked West around the base of the cliffs towards the steps that enable an easy return from beach level to cliff level at Hope Gap.
I took a few photos of the waves rolling in and breaking, with the Seven Sisters nicely lit by the sun forming the background. All photos on this trip only taken using my LG phone, not the camera I usually use.
We had a light lunch, pre-packed, that we ate on the beach sheltering from the wind and another light shower behind a large rock.
We then returned to cliff level via the steps and walked up a grassy footpath to reach the original track we had used earlier, so that we headed back to the car.
Our walk had filled a couple of hours, with some very fresh air, and therefore provided much needed exercise - while also delighting the eyes with some wonderful scenery.
We really enjoy visiting this area of the South Coast and are likely to return on many occasions in the future.
