I had a fun day out, taking photos around the Seven Sisters, East Sussex. Been there many times, but had lots of time to spare to 'play around' and experiment.
I opted to start at Birling Gap, as my arrival was due to coincide with low tide. I actually missed the lowest part of the tide and that changed what I thought I might capture. I had a plan to see if could get reflection of cliffs in the wet sand, but the waves of the now incoming tide had already covered the wet sand area. So, I chose to clamber over the rocks towards the sea and set up to capture the waves of that incoming tide. I used slow shutter speed, to allow the waves to appear as blurry movement in the photos.
Later I headed for Seaford Head and Cuckmere Haven. The first photo, below, was taken from a footpath that crosses the top end of a field - I spotted the opportunity to frame the Seven Sisters with one of the gorse bushes. The sun had virtually gone by now, but the result was still pleasing.
Thereafter, I made my way down to the beach at Cuckmere Haven. I again tried natural framing, by including part of one of the groynes in the foreground. There was detail in the wood to create interest as well. The incoming wave added more interest within the photo.
I spotted that the incoming waves were splashing around the posts of the groyne and set-up to capture that - slow shutter speed showswater movement.
The pile of stones below had actually been left there by a previous visitor and I thought I would try to take something interesting. I wanted to include some detail in the wood, as it gives greater depth to the pic.
My last pic was down low, looking through one of the groynes and including parts of it to frame the picture. Seaford Head is to the right and the sun was just adding a pastel looking glow beneath the cloud cover.
A thoroughly enjoyable day, with variety and options. I tried to see photo opportunities rather than having too many set ideas and I am happy with what I achieved.
