I have to start this post by saying that I needed the afternoon out to assist with my feelings having recently lost my Mum, for whom I have been caring for most of the past year - there's quite a sense of emptiness and I feel lost at the moment.
It will pass, but afternoons like this help .....
So, needing a trip out and having checked the forecast, I headed for one of my favourite locations first - I went to park at South Barn, at the top of Seaford Head, so that I could walk down to Hope Gap as I knew it was due to be low tide mid afternoon and I would be able to access the rocky foreshore to look along the Seven Sisters.
The sun duly poked through the morning cloud while I was driving South and conditions were good as I arrived.
I have visited this particular spot on many occasions, as it is one of my favourite views and I feel calm there.
I took a few photos, but wasn't getting anything outstanding so Headed back up the steps to the cliff top overlooking Cuckmere Haven.
I took a few shots up there, pleasing enough, and walked steadily in the warm sun back to my car.
Recently I have read about a small car park that has short walks to a viewpoint that looked spectacular when I Googled it to see images from there. It is situated on the outskirts of Seaford and, as I had time to spare, I decided to find it.
I knew which road to use to lead to it and arrived there and parked easily, a free but small car park.
Well made paths lead from the car park and I was soon amazed by the views that opened up in front of me.
Initially, I was looking East/North East from this high vantage point straight out over the meandering River Cuckmere and the valley in which it sits with the village of Alfriston visible in the distance.
That was stunning, but the path led further and I walked on round a couple more corners to be confronted by a majestic view looking South. Again the view looked over the River Cuckmere, but this time across gently undulating fields and the flat valley floor all the way to the sea at Cuckmere Haven.
It was quite breezy and I chose to include windswept grasses and buttercups in the foreground of some photos to add interest and colour.
This was my first visit to this spot, but I will return at different times of day - sunrise, sunset etc and different times of year for changing colours,
