Sunset at mid-tide - Amazing

While out walking along the seafront a couple of weeks ago, I spotted a raised section of concrete that apparently covers the water discharge pipe and this extends out further then the wooden groynes on the beach. I reckoned that at mid tide I would be able to walk out towards the sea on that concrete and therefore have water in the foreground of my photo rather than beach.

This afternoon I planned to try out my idea during the evening and capture the sunset from there. My reckoning proved to be correct, giving me the angle to shoot sunset as I had hoped for. The other hope was for the colours to be reflected in the sea and that too proved to be accurate.

Now, what I had not actually envisaged was just how dramatic those reflections could be. The small waves of the incoming tide were breaking in front of my viewpoint and, with the camera set to a 2secs delay between pressing the shutter and it actually firing all that was required was great timing on my part to allow for that 2seds and capture the pattern of the breaking waves. There were several quite pleasing ones, but then I caught one particular wave just as it broke and the sun caught the curve of the wave - I could see it immediately when the image I had just taken popped up my on camera screen.

more to follow soon ..............
